Clea Glaive, also known as the "Red Peddler", is an NPC in "World's Odyssey." She first appears as a questionable merchant before joining Shina's party of adventurers. She is also the only party member the player doesn't fight in battle when in Glitched mode as part of the story due to a broken emotion: courage. Although she is fightable in the DLC ''Dungeon re;Quest pack'' in her glitch mode.

Personality and Abilities[]

Clea has a cynical worldview, claiming that her father served as a loyal knight of the Gowen Kingdom and "got the butt end of the stick for it". She has a keen knowledge for priceless goods, weapons and artifacts but her obsession with turning those into profit often gets her into trouble. Her quick wits and untrusting nature often make it difficult for Shina Ninomiya and Arata Mizunashi to keep the secrets of the real world hidden from her. As an ogre from the eastern lands Clea's appearance is that of an elegant asian woman with devilish horns.

She fights using a pair of pistols, alongside the blades that she wears on her upper arms.

History[]

Death end re;Quest[]

Clea first appears in the final cutscene of Chapter 2, when she claims that Al Astra has stepped on her contact lens. After the misunderstanding is sorted out, Clea joins the party.

In Chapter 3, during the first encounter with the Corpse, Clea attempts to use her Anti-Corpse weapon, but it fails; furthermore, the encounter nearly kills Shina. Clea burns through her entire inventory to keep Shina alive while Arata searches for a solution on his end to save Shina.

In Chapter 4, after having encountered detective Senji Hizumi, Arata realizes that Clea looks identical to Detective Hizumi's missing daughter, Kaede Hizumi. Arata carefully asks Clea about Hizumi, but she doesn't remember anything.

In Chapter 10, during the fight with a brainwashed Celica Clayton, Clea reveals to Shina that she knows what emotion her buggy feeds off of: courage. She strengthens her resolve to protect Shina, which causes her to glitch, and mutually dies alongside Celica in the resulting clash. However, thanks to Werner Glock's efforts, she apparently survives long enough to be logged out of World's Odyssey by Ending Engage. She rescues Arata in the merged world before helping the party subdue Iris.

In Clea's ending, time has reversed to before the events of the story. Arata finds himself in the police interrogation room with Detective Hizumi, and had been unconscious for a while. Arata freaks out, and nearly spills that he knows who Hizumi is, which makes Hizumi wonder if Arata did know him, and if so would be suspicious. Arata had passed out in front of the station, and Kaede had found him unconscious, so Hizumi looked after him whilst he was out. When Arata attempts to leave, Kaede comes into the room to check on him and is happy he's okay. Arata recognises her, though she doesn't recognise him.

Death Ends[]

  • If the party chooses to ignore her in Chapter 2, she opens fire on them, killing Shina.

Death end re;Quest 2[]

In chapter 4, Shina gives Mai Toyama avatars of her friends from World's Odyssey, including Clea, which allows her to summon them in battle to fight alongside her.

In Kaede's sub event in New Game+, it shows what happens after her ending in the first game. Arata, having been told to do so by Senji, goes to Kaede store and buys things from her to thank her for looking after him when he passed out. This caused her to become good friends with him, and later, Shina as well.

In chapter 6, Shina is able to send a text to one of her friends about the situation going on in La Choara but loses signal before she can send it to anyone else. If Shina sends it to Kaede, she arrives in La Choara 11 days later and approaches Mai, Rotten Dollhart, and Liliana Pinnata asking if they know Shina. The trio are surprised that someone knew who she was, though Shina arrives and explains that she was who she had sent a text to. The group realize that Kaede was able to get into town, with Shina taking Kaede to her home to catch up. Later that night, Shina and the trio go to the tourist area, as that is where Kaede got in, to see if they could get out of town as everyone was stuck inside. They find they can't, though realize that cars could get through and Kaede had arrived in a car.

In Kaede's sub-event, exclusive to New Game+, she has buys lots of merch from other stores and then sets up her own store. She convinces the trio to work for her to help her sell things with the promise of giving them rare whip spiders if they do. After selling lots of whip spider merch, they are exhausted and Kaede gives them what she promised as thanks though Mai and Rotten just give theirs to Liliana instead.

They plan to leave with Kaede in the car the next day, though are unable to as Shina is murdered by Midra Dollhart and her black cloaked minions due to sneaking into the building that Midra did sacrifices in. Shina recorded this footage as she died and sent it to Kaede, who shows it to the trio the next day. Shocked at seeing the video, the group decide they need to get revenge for Shina and Kaede tells them not to worry as she will confront Midra with the video. She does so, and tells her to turn herself in and that if Kaede doesn't return to Japan within a week, an investigation will be made with police and others coming to La Choara to deal with the situation meaning killing her wont stop her being arrested and tried for her crimes. She gives her one day to turn herself in and returns to her hotel room, and tells the trio they will leave the town once she has done so. Later that night however, one of Midra's minions knocks on her door with Kaede assuming it was the trio. Instead, upon opening the door, she is stabbed by the black cloaked man and realizing she will die pulls out a bomb she had brought with her and detonates it figuring that if she is going to die she'll take her killer with her. The hotel is blown to pieces, killing them both, with everyone in town — including the trio — shocked — as they knew Kaede was in there.

After Mai defeats Julietta Nolan, the person responsible for everything that had happened in La Choara, she uses the World's Key to reverse time to before any of the events happened and creates a World where Julietta never existed in Arata's World. Therefore, in this new version of the World, none of this happened — though Mai, Rotten, and Liliana remember the events from the previous timeline.

Death end re;Quest: Code Z[]

SPOILER WARNING
Below this point are critical plot details for a game that has yet to be officially released in North America or Europe.

Kaede Hizumi is set to reappear in Death end re;Quest: Code Z. In this game she is the owner of ''Ogre.com'', an online shopping site used all over the world. Despite her young age, she is full of business acumen and is based overseas to help run the site smoothly. Her real name is hidden, and very few people know her true identity.

However, one of the characters appearing in ''World's Odyssey'', ''Clea Glaive'', has a background similar to Kaede Hizumi, and Kaede later played the game herself. It even surprised her. It's a strange situation where a very similar character appears in the game, even though she didn't participate in the development of World's Odyssey.

Shina Ninomiya, who is also the writer of World's Odyssey, mysteriously got to know her information to put her in this game that accurately, Although it's entirely within the realm of expectations for the God of Death.

At first, she was skeptical of the members of Iris Corporation, but after a major incident at a department store, she becomes a reliable ally. During that time, Sayaka will do her best with the intention of dying.

The glitch girl ''Huuki Hizumi'' is based on Clea Glaive's game data.

Trivia[]

  • Mary Skelter 2 gives Sleeping Beauty a costume based on Clea as part of its "Death End Attire" cross-promotion. Like Clea, Sleeping Beauty is taller and more physically developed than most of her fellow party members. She's also often seen using ranged weaponry like Clea in her case, a bow.
