Iris is a central figure in Death end re;Quest and a supporting character in Death end re;Quest 2. She reappears in Death end re;Quest: Code Z with an alternate appearance and a huge role in the game's plot. She is the "Proto-Luden", built by Aphesis but going rogue after a certain tragedy.
History[]
End Quest[]
Iris, who is not named until late in the game, edits the heroines' memories and personalities to get them to act like the characters that they are supposed to be portraying. She later wipes their memories as it was causing bugs in World's Odyssey. She is given her name by Shina Ninomiya, who she forms a close bond with.
Death end re;Quest[]
At the start of the game, Iris is in her Entoma form, and murders Shina. Arata then causes time to reverse so they can try again.
Shina is one of the 10,000 people kidnapped by Aphesis in an attempt to create a Proto-Luden, and they find Iris likes to talk with Shina. They spend a large amount of time together in World's Odyssey, though when Shina finds out about the kidnappings, she attempts to help and is shot to death. When Iris finds out, this causes her to go crazy, and she locks Aphesis out of the game. At some point, she is emailed to Arata by Shina, who was revived as a game character by the other Ludens. Aphesis then attempt to get her back.
When escaping from Aphesis towards the end of the game, Iris tells Arata which way to go.
Eventually, Arata is able to open the file, which summons Iris though she continues to go berserk. After defeating her, she dies in Shina's arms as Shina finally remembers her.
The theme that plays when fighting against Iris in her final phase is Return To Me.
In Shina's ending, the two worlds are fused and Shina is reborn as a Luden, and Iris is her sister.
Death end re;Quest 2[]
In Death end re;Quest 2, Iris appears as an AI inside of Arata's laptop. Mai first discovers the laptop in Chapter 2 where Rotten brings out a dusty laptop from Shina's place, the laptop detected Mai as an unauthorized user and proceeded to perform a system wipe, exploding in the process, before the laptop could explode Shina pushed them both back, saving them, after returning to Wordsworth Dormitory Mai later comes back for the laptop and tries to insert her USB into the laptop. If you choose ''Don't insert it.'' the laptop incinerates Mai as a security measure due to insufficient authentication. If she does insert the USB stick she gains access to the laptop. In this game Iris is supposedly an all-knowing AI and answers any questions that Mai has for her.
Death end re;Quest: Code Z[]
SPOILER WARNING |
---|
Below this point are critical plot details for a game that recently released in North America or Europe. |
In Death end re;Quest: Code Z, Iris was born in World DE-1, a world that mirrors Earth in the 2000s. With her birth, a series of tragic loops was set in motion, which were gradually unraveled by the efforts of Arata Mizunashi and his team.
With her goodwill restored, Iris created a copy of World DE-1 named World DE-1.5. Here, feuds gave way to friendship, each person a perfect cog in a perfect world.
But a new crisis threatens the peace...
A mysterious man has entered the fray, and he leads a group of people who look identical to the world's former heroes. Our new hero, Sayaka Hiwatari, confronts the rising chaos, where friends and foes seem impossible to distinguish.
And so the battle with another world enters a new phase...
Iris is the chairman and founder of Iris Corporation, which develops and operates games. Together with the company's president, Werner Glock, they created Iris by recruiting independent staff from Enigma. It seems that there are other things he created, but no one knows how Iris knows about them.
Iris's own wish is to create a game full of dreams and hopes. In ''End to Odyssey'' the sequel to ''World's Odyssey,'' director Shina seems to be a little saddened by the harsh scenario development
For some reason, she hits upon Sayaka, who just started working there casually. There's a very important reason for that, but it's too cruel for Sayaka to explain here.
She seemingly is present in the real world, lost her heterochromia and wears a completely new outfit.
Other Notes[]
- Mary Skelter 2 gives Rapunzel a costume based on Iris as part of its "Death End Attire" cross-promotion.
