Julietta is the primary antagonist of Death end re;Quest 2. She initially appears as a social worker who brings the orphaned Mai Toyama to Le Choara, but is later revealed to have orchestrated the conflict surrounding the town using her Observer abilities. She plans to summon the evil god Marbas to take revenge upon Arata Mizunashi and his world for the fate of her younger sister Lydia Nolan.

History

Backstory

Julietta Nolan is the daughter of Leesha Nolan and older sister of Lydia Nolan. Like them, she is an Observer, cursed to oversee the Endbirth Plan. Unlike the rest of her family, however, she feels no attachment to the people residing inside of the Endbirths.

She chides Lydia over her and Leesha's rule-breaking in order to save their respective Endbirths, claiming that they are putting all of the Observers in danger, but Lydia protests that the people inside of the Endbirths are every bit as real as she is. One day, Julietta tunes into the Obervers' mandatory news broadcast and is horrified to learn that her mother is being executed. After hours of torture, Leesha finally dies, and the broadcast announces that Lydia is next to be executed. Julietta angrily recites the name of the man who Lydia developed a crush on, and swears to destroy him, his world, and the Observers' world.

36 years prior to the events of Death end re;Quest 2, Rotten Dollhart is in critical condition following a car accident. Her mother Midra is desperate for aid, but the doctors cannot do anything to save her. She is eventually led to Julietta, taking the form of an elderly woman. Julietta manages to revive Rotten, but tells Midra that Rotten's soul will leave her body unless Midra sacrifices young children. This continues until one day years later, where the grief of Midra's actions eventually drive her to suicide. That year, Midra had killed 22 children, so Julietta decides to "curse" Le Choara to loop endlessly so that she may keep accruing souls towards her end goal of summoning Marbas. This continues for 30 years.

Death end re;Quest 1.5

Arata is lured to Le Choara after being attacked by assassins. There, he meets Julietta, who presents the severed head of Shina Ninomiya before murdering Arata with a hatchet. While he is able to revert his death using the powers of the Salve Pen entrusted to him by Lydia, Julietta stays one step ahead, brutally murdering his friends and himself over and over again until Arata no longer uses degrades to revive himself.

Death end re;Quest 2

Julietta, under the guise of a social services worker, brings Mai Toyama and Liliana Pinnata to Le Choara.

After Mai defeats a transformed Midra, the "augmented reality" created by Julietta's curse lifts, revealing Le Choara to be a long-abandoned ghost town. Mai stumbles into the church, where Julietta reveals the truth of Le Choara to Mai. Julietta moves in to kill Mai, who nearly gives in before a pre-recorded message from Arata Mizunashi causes Mai to flee.

In the final chapter, Mai, Rotten, and Liliana encounter Sanae Toyama. However, Mai's reunion with her sister is short-lived as Julietta ambushes them and stabs Mai from behind. Julietta reveals that Sanae is genetically compatible with Marbas, and can thus serve as a vessel. With 665 souls, Julietta's plan is nearly complete, and she ultimately reaches her goal: in the Fallen Ending, she kills Rotten, Liliana, and Sanae, while she accidentally kills Sanae when trying to finish off Mai in the True Ending. Either way, with Sanae dead and at least 666 souls accrued, Julietta attempts to have Marbas inhabit her body. Unfortunately for Julietta, she is merely transformed into a Shadow Matter by her own curse, whereas Marbas possesses Mai instead. Mai easily defeats Julietta and kills all of Marbas's cultists.

Julietta's boss battle in her Shadow Matter form changes depending on which ending you go for, if you lose with Rotten and Liliana against the Blood Flies before her right you will face Julietta in her first form alone with Mai in the fallen ending, if you are doing the true ending route, you will face her first and second form with the full party, both phases are accompanied by four Blood Flies, her second form is called Rogue Julietta.

The track that plays when fighting her is ''Running Out Of Miracles''.

EX Ending

In the Observers' world, Julietta is marked for death for her actions on Arata's world. However, Lydia attempts to stage a jailbreak, rescuing Julietta from her cell and fleeing. As they are cornered by security, Julietta pleads with Lydia to leave her behind, but Lydia refuses. Unfortunately for the Nolan sisters, a mysterious gunman appears and prepares to execute them. Julietta seemingly jumps in front of her sister and is shot in the chest. Sadly for the sisters, this sacrifice is for naught as Lydia is shot immediately afterwards.

Death end re;Quest: Code Z
