Lydia Nolan is a supporting character in Death end re;Quest and Death end re;Quest 2. She is set to reappear in Death end re;Quest Code Z. She is a foreigner who works as a character designer for Enigma Games.
Personality[]
Lydia is a foreigner who, according to Arata Mizunashi, has a shocking, native-level mastery of the Japanese language.
She prides herself on being an otaku, flaunting her decked-out itabag and collection of figurines at her desk. Her favorite video games are otome games, but she dabbles in other genres from time to time. She values honesty, impulsiveness and thrill-seeking. She is the same age as Shina Ninomiya and therefore the two swiftly became friends.
History[]
Death end re;Quest[]
Lydia is introduced in the Prologue chapter, teasing Arata about a "booby-mousepad" that was requested for one of Enigma's projects.
In Chapter 3, Lydia evades the Rabbit Masks but injures herself in the process. Arata arrives to help her escape, but the two suddenly find themselves in the sights of a speeding car. Arata selflessly throws Lydia to safety, and after a bright light and mysterious words from Lydia, emerges from the encounter unscathed.
Arata spends later chapters attempting to chase down a mysterious masked murderer that leaves glowing lines of code in their wake. Arata finally corners them, only for them to pull their mask off and reveal that they are Lydia. Following this, Lydia does not return to Summer Life.
In Chapter 10, during the chaos of the world merger, Arata encounters Lydia. Arata asks her about the incident with the speeding car and, against her protest, recites the words that he heard that night. This causes time to freeze. Lydia explained that she is an Observer, a person that seeks out and destroys irregularities in Arata's world. She states that the carnage created by the Ludens means that she failed her mission and will be punished, but entrusts her special pen and ancient book to Arata in a last-ditch effort to save his world. She then ascends to the heavens, her last words being a silly reminder that "a girl's belly button is a key to her heart."
In Lydia's ending, time is reversed to before the events of the story. When Arata asks how Lydia is, Sumika wonders if he means "the game character", which causes Arata to remember Lydia passed on her role as observer to him, and thus no longer existed.
Death end re;Quest 2[]
Lydia is a key figure in Death end re;Quest 2, though most scenes relating to her are added upon a second playthrough. After having seen the True Ending, a new playthrough begins with Lydia lamenting the "Endbirth Plan" - a plan to craft a utopia that involves the frequent deletion of countless human lives.
It is revealed that the Observers' world is a technologically-advanced dystopia, and Observers are wholly-expendable slaves to the Endbirth Plan. Lydia, for her actions in the first game, is sentenced to death. Her older sister, already furious upon learning that Lydia was willing to sacrifice herself to save the people of Arata's world, swore to destroy Arata's world and the Observers' world; this resulted in the game's primary conflict in Le Choara.
After Julietta is captured and sentenced to death for her actions against Arata's world, Lydia attempts to mount a rescue. As they are cornered by security, Julietta begs Lydia to save herself, but Lydia refuses. Unfortunately for the Nolan sisters, a mysterious gunman appears and shoots Julietta in the chest. He then shoots Lydia, who screams out in her seemingly-final moments.

OA director at Enigma Corp.
She served as the assistant director of World's Odyssey, and now takes the role of director for its sequel, End to Odyssey. Even after Shina Ninomiya and the core team left Enigma, she chose not to follow them to Iris Corp. and stayed behind.
It's not that she has a bad relationship with Shina and the others, but she has different ideas. It'll be Sayaka's first time meeting her, but as for the God of Death... who knows? Wasn't she in a hospital room somewhere...?
Lydia and her sister Julietta make up the Luden ''Wraith''.
