Marbas (also referred to as "Barbas") is a central figure in Death end re;Quest 2, albeit one that is never directly shown.

Death end re;Quest 2[]
Marbas is a deity worshiped by Midra Dollhart and her cult. While alluded to at various points, Marbas is ultimately revealed to be a key part of Julietta Nolan's plot to destroy the world. Summoning Marbas requires 666 children to die as well as the sacrifice of one of its descendants. To gather the requisite sacrifices, she coerces Midra Dollhart into murdering the residents of Wordsworth Dormitory; after Midra is driven to suicide, Julietta destroys Le Choara, cuts it off from the rest of the world, and then uses her Observer abilities to reanimate its residents once a year to be murdered all over again. Once Julietta is within reach of the requisite sacrifices, she captures one of Marbas's descendants, Sanae Toyama, and lures another to Le Choara.
In the final chapter, Julietta gravely wounds Mai and then kills Sanae, and attempts to claim Marbas's power. Unfortunately for the Observer, Marbas chooses its other living descendant - Mai - to inhabit instead. With Marbas's power, Mai defeats Julietta's Shadow Matter form and eliminates her cultists.
Even after the world is degraded, Marbas continues to reside inside of Mai, as denoted by Mai's completely-white eyes. Mai decides to wear contact lenses to hide them while in public.
Fallen Ending[]
In the Fallen Ending, achieved by losing or taking too long in the fight immediately preceding the final battle, Julietta forces Mai to watch her kill Rotten Dollhart and Liliana Pinnata on top of Sanae. Mai is still possessed by Marbas and defeats Julietta, but, having no remaining friends or family, is unable to resist Marbas's influence. Having completely taken over Mai, Marbas declares herself the God of Death. Breaking the fourth wall, Marbas calls the player of Death end re;Quest 2 a "piece of shit" for going out of their way to watch people die, sings "murderer" at them, and then compels them to chant "El Strain Marbas" just as her cultists did. The player's energy is drained from their body, and Marbas gloats that the player will be with them "forever".
