Sanae Toyama (東山 早苗 Toyama Sanae) is the younger sister of Mai Toyama.
Death end re;Quest 2[]
Sanae's parents are said to have divorced at some point before the events of Death end re;Quest 2. In the proceedings, their parents made an agreement that stated Mai would live with her father, and Sanae with her mother. It is said she resided at Wordsworth Women's Dormitory, an orphanage in Le Choara after the death of their mother. Prior to the events of the game, she had kept in contact with her sister Mai by sending her emails, though by the time the game starts it's states that Sanae has stopped responding to Mai.

Sanae Toyama appears in Death end re;Quest: Code Z. In this game she works for Aggle, the parent company of Enigma. She is Mai's emotional support and gives her sound advice.
Unlike her sister Mai, she is a receptionist and an accountant. She was almost killed by some form of illness which causes her family to be concerned with her health at all times. She has started living on her own as a result of this, as well as a desire to be independent, especially from her sister who can be a bit overbearing at times.
Her mother, who paints for a living, and her father and sister who work at the same company, rarely get together, though they appear to have a decent relationship with one another.
Etymology[]
- The name Sanae means "early, fast" (早) (sa) and "seedling, sapling, shoot" (苗) (nae).
- Sanae's surname Toyama means "east" (東) (to) and "mountain, hill" (山) (yama).
