World's Odyssey is a Virtual Reality MMORPG developed by Enigma Games until the development was halted due to the unexplained dissapearance of Shina Ninomiya, a colleague of Enigma Games programmer ''Arata Mizunashi''. After a year passes Arata stumbles upon the game once more and is shocked to find the game's servers are still active, he later finds that his co-worker Shina is trapped inside of the game with severe amnesia. The two learn that Shina won't be able to get out until the game is beaten and when the ''Ending Engage'' is triggered, which is complicated by the fact that the game was left unfinished, and has apparently been hacked and altered by a third-party as well.
Shina later learns from Rook (the merchant) that World's Odyssey has been infested by the ''Entoma Scourge'' which has plagued World's Odyssey one year prior due to a terrifying beast known as ''Heaven's Messenger'' until its body spontaneously shattered. The survivors deemed it a miracle from the heavens and continued on with their lives until the "Mass Consternation" several months later. Inexplicable events, such as people evaporating and mass suicides, were happening all around World's Odyssey thanks to mysterious objects called the Entoma; Rook points out that Shina's spider legs are one such object. Rook refers to the casualties as martyrs, "suffering for the sake of avoiding retribution"; since they are believed to be possessing monsters, those monsters are also called Martyrs.
Arata can find ''Reality Objects'' (Also reffered to as ''Truth Fragments'' by Hajime Anjo) inside of World's Odyssey to aid him in fixing the code inside of the game, those objects lead him to a place in the real world that has the neccesary code hidden somewhere, written in blue.
You can use quick travel through World's Odyssey at any point after chapter 5 after you unlocked the Strain Area.
Death end re;Quest 2[]
Mai Toyama has mentioned hacking into the World's Odyssey servers with the laptop given to her by her dad before the events of Death end re;Quest 2.

In Death end re;Quest Code Z World's Odyssey seemingly has launched without any hitches, both a movie starring actors like Chloe Aarons and a sequel called ''End to Odyssey'' developed by Iris Corporation are in the works.
